Capturing stories as they unfold

White floral decorative design with leaves and swirls on a black background.

I’m an experienced photojournalist creating honest, story-driven editorial photography and films in NYC. My work blends authenticity with artistry — capturing real emotion, subtle details, and meaningful narrative for publications that value visual storytelling.

Two women walking through the remains of a burned building, with debris, charred rubble, and damaged structures around them.
Lady in a yellow coat and gloves, man in a dark coat and red tie, man in a dark coat, lady in a light coat, all smiling and talking on steps of a government building.

Tell the story that goes beyond the surface.

My passion lies in storytelling, utilising both video and still photography. After more than a decade on staff at the NY Daily News, I covered a vast array of assignments focusing on features, general assignment, portraiture and fashion.

My video work earned a NY Emmy award and has also been recognized by the National Press Photographers Association, Pictures of the Year International, Newswomen's Club of NY, New York Press Photographers Association, Deadline Club and NY Press Club.

What clients are saying

“I was so delighted with Julia's work on a major video project and still photography project at the Columbia Aging Center that I was eager to hire her AGAIN for projects at the Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging. Again, Julia was a joy to work with and her photographs were perceptive, beautiful, and rigorous. I love that she sees older adults in an unsentimental and engaged way.

“Julia’s sunny spirit and positive attitude was a joy on set. She is an excellent and talented photographer. She is extremely professional and constantly gave great suggestions about how to improve shots, but never overstepped or took over our styling. Her turnaround time was quick and the process was easy. Julia is a real class act, and a fun photographer to work with. I highly recommend her!”
