BROOKLYN Newborn photographer
Preserving the earliest days… tender, timeless and true.
When I photograph newborns I focus on the tiny details — the soft sighs, sleepy cuddles, the first curious glances between siblings — so you can hold onto these precious moments forever.
Every story has a beginning.
The first days with your newborn are so full of quiet wonder along with extreme exhaustion, which makes it difficult to remember the tiny gestures that change from one day to the next. I capture these fleeting moments in photos and film so that you can revisit them again and again — the baby fresh snuggles, the way their forehead wrinkles up and scrunch up their tiny legs. I myself remember what it was like to meet my own siblings as a child and to have that on film to relive that memory now would be a gift like no other.
Each newborn session is calm, gentle and designed around your family’s needs. Ultimately we are creating keepsakes not for us, but for the generations to come.

How we capture your story
What clients are saying
Julia photographed our twin newborns. She exceeded our expectations! My husband and I were beyond tired the day of the photo shoot due to one of the babies having colic. Julia not only calmed our nerves, but she was able to soothe our twins which was not an easy task! She brought music as well which helped us all relax during the two and a half hour session. Julia prefers to capture in-the-moment photos which we loved. We cannot recommend Julia enough for her professionalism, expertise, and patience.
Stephanie Castellano
We did our son's newborn shoot with Julia, and INCREDIBLE would be an understatement. She knew exactly what to do, and even taught us a few things of keeping our then newborn calm. She was so patient throughout the entire photoshoot, and took her time with a squirmy newborn to ensure she got perfect shots. She was also so kind and sensitive with my husband and I, as we had just gone through a rough delivery and stay at the hopsital due to my son having a heart issue. She even incorporated his heart defect, and his little IV marks and spots in the photos, and of course made me cry happy tears! She was just overall an incredible human being which is important when you're allowing someone with your precious little ones.

Newborn films
A newborn film lets you hold onto the sounds, movements and emotions that photos can’t capture — the sleepy stretches and the way your baby fits perfectly in your arms. Paired with still images, these films become a way to remember exactly how it felt to fall in love.

Newborn sessions Brooklyn FAQ

The best way to start is by scheduling a quick call so we can reserve your due date on my calendar and plan your session. Once your baby arrives, you’ll simply get in touch to confirm your time.
A signed contract and 50% retainer are required to secure your session. It’s best to book as early as possible (now!) so I can be ready for your baby’s precious arrival. Many parents even text me from the delivery room because they don’t want to miss a single moment!

Ideally, when you’re feeling up to it — but for those dreamy, sleepy newborn portraits, the sweet spot is 10–14 days old. After about a month, babies are more alert and active, and their little features begin to change quickly.
If you’re hoping for those cozy, wrapped portraits in wooden props, aim to book within the first three weeks. That said, I’ve photographed babies at every stage — each season has its own beauty.
-
Light and calm would best describe our time together. Sessions are completely baby-led — if your little one needs a feeding or soothing break, we take our time. Pacifiers can be helpful, though I completely understand if you prefer not to use one.
If older siblings are involved, we’ll keep things easy and natural (bring a small snack or water for them just in case). My role is to gently guide, pose where needed, and let authentic moments unfold as they will.
-
Your home is often the best choice — it’s relaxed, familiar, and especially comfortable for families with toddlers. No need to deep clean — a made bed and a cleared surface or two are all I need. I’ll photograph around the lived-in parts and focus on the beauty of your family as you are.
My studio is located on 83rd Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. It’s a cozy space, perfect for individual newborn portraits. I suggest doing family and sibling photos in the first 30 minutes, then allowing one parent to stay for the rest of the session while the other relaxes or heads home with the kids.
-
We’ll always save a rain date just in case. Rescheduling is sometimes necessary.
Unless we’re planning a snowy shoot, I don’t recommend outdoor sessions below 50°F or above 90°F — kids’ comfort comes first.

Photo galleries are delivered within three weeks (often sooner). If you need a reasonable rush, just let me know.
Films take longer — around 12–16 weeks — as the editing process is more involved.
-
Galleries typically include 50–100 watermarked images to choose from, depending on the type of session.
-
A 50% deposit and signed contract secure your newborn session. The remaining balance is due on the day of your session.
Once you’ve chosen your final images, an invoice will be sent for any additional downloads.
Payment is accepted via cash, check, Zelle, Venmo, or credit card. Payment plans are also available — just ask.
-
No, I don’t provide raw files. Once your favorites are chosen, I edit them in my signature style.
You can, however, purchase the entire edited, unwatermarked gallery — which many families choose to do.
-
Yes! I have a car and can travel — mileage fees apply for locations more than 30 miles from Bay Ridge. I also have a passport and love a good adventure with proper planning.
-
Absolutely! Please bring them along — I’ll be sure to include a few special shots with them.

The goal is soft, timeless tones that let baby shine and capture you as you are.
Choose pieces you can relax in, avoiding anything too formal. Neutrals and earth tones always photograph beautifully. Try to avoid bright pinks, bold patterns, or clothing with logos or text (like “big bro”).
-
Many knitted or themed newborn outfits look adorable online but don’t fit well in real life. I prefer simple, natural styling that keeps the focus on your baby. I have plenty of wraps and cozy textures designed to keep your little one warm and comfortable throughout the session.
-
My goal is to capture your family authentically. While I can outsource specific editing requests, altering your appearance isn’t part of my process.
-
You can also order high-quality prints through my online gallery, or use your preferred print service with the digital files.
-
It brings me great joy to share the beautiful work we create together — that’s how most new clients find me!
I always ask permission before featuring your photos on my website or social media, and I take online privacy seriously. -
Yes! They make a perfect baby shower gift — after all, how many onesies does one baby need? I can hand-deliver locally or mail the certificate to the recipient. Contact me to organise your gift certificate.
Your story deserves to be remembered.
The best way to plan what’s right for your family is to have a quick chat. We’ll uncover what matters most to you and create a session that feels genuine, relaxed, and true to your family.
